Aircraft Charter Demand Increasing
May 31 2011 00:00

According to an October 5 alert from Aviation International News, charter demand for executive charter flights increased considerably this month. As of Friday, the forward-looking index of charter demand was up by close to 10 points from a month earlier. It represents a positive outlook for the aircraft charter sector than in past months.

Over the past month, average flight hour charter rates have been fairly constant compared with August. Both in North American and globally, charter rates changed by no more than 1 percent up or down. The alert reported that in North America, the September 30 average charter rates for a Cessna Citation Excel midsize jet was $3,175, and charter rates for a Hawker 800 was $3,361 while the Challenger 604 large cabin jet chartered for a rate of $4872 on average.

New Flight Charters mirrors this report, and has experienced an increase in charter flight requests beginning October 1. Expecting an increased demand in jet charter activity, New Flight is currently fielding many inquiries for upcomming holiday travels over Thanksgiving, Chrismas and New Years holidays. Requested destinations have included Tortola in the Virgin Islands; Nassau, Bahamas; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; along with other popular winter destinations.
